Microsoft published some new open source app templates few weeks back, one of them is 100% EDU Focused and completely built on top of Power Platform and SharePoint components (this means 0$ extra costs to deploy )
The attendance App template provides teachers an easy way to take class attendance for their students, taking on the roster from a Class Team. This app is intended for K12 customers but we have also seen this need in some HED institutions.
The app is easily pinned as a tab inside of the class team or accessed as a personal app. It stores the data in a SharePoint list repository, making it easy to extend or add new features as Power Automate triggers on specific events (i.e student absent) or creating a real time PowerBI Dashboard with attendance overall in the school or sections.
As same as the other App Templates available, this is completely open sourced under MIT license and could be adapted or modified to fit your customer/institution needs. Some of this adaptations could be integrating it with institution SIS to sync attendance or exporting data to another data store you may want to use.
